Today we went to the Monkey Temple in the morning and it was super cool. There were 365 steps to represent the days of the year. It was a treck and a half but very well worth it. We had to do a little shuffle to avoid the monkeys that were lurking for food. At the top of the stairs were the most beautiful temples we've seen here. There were still vendors throughout the top selling all of the same products. It's hilarious to watch every one try and bargain with the Nepalese people. I had a really awesome time there. We also saw Sarawati temple and we were allowed to write our names on the wall for successful love. Overall it was a really original experience that could only take place on M-term in Nepal. See you guys soon! Hope the snow is not too bad. D'Ashley Wilson.
Afternoon of day 3 (second full day)
Later this afternoon we visited the first orphanage of the trip. None of us knew what to expect but we were all so excited. Once we arrived, we were greeted by about 50 orphans celebrating a birthday. We did not waste any time and got right to work. We were split up so some of us were painting. Although this was difficult due to the lack of brushes, we got it done. The other half of us worked together to clean the other rooms in the orphanage. We were able to talk and play with the orphans while doing something that we knew they would appreciate. The day came to a close with an exciting water balloon fight with the kids, followed by some of our peers very generously giving away notebooks, clothes, blankets and much more. Overall, the day felt complete. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves while making a difference at the same time. No worries parents. We are all healthy and happy! Abby Cook.
